As a Registered Nurse I had come to realize that animals can make a person who is in pain feel relaxed and less aware of the pain. Besides being a nurse I have been around dogs for over 40 years and with other animals since childhood. So I know first hand what an animal can give to any person who is feeling down or incapacitated in any way.
Many years ago I decided that I should put these two things together, both my nursing and my love of animals, to help others. I am a disabled person and know that my dogs have kept me going through thick and thin, ups and downs, and when I feel myself thinking of hurts too often I reach for a dog and the pain eases.
I have been a volunteer Certified TDI Evaluator for many years. I enjoy working with the people to get their dogs prepared for the test and enjoy testing the dogs and their handlers. Each dog I test makes me feel like one more person or more will be helped by another animal and perhaps their pains will be lessoned. I also do Canine Good Citizen Testing.
